Graham Judd

Subconscious story telling, goofy figures, paranoid shapes, restricted environments, rigged hands, imaginary portraits, and hairless bodies are a few of the things I do. Egon Schiellie, Gregory Gillespie, Francis Bacon, Franz Halls, Peter Paul Rubens, Albrecht Durer, James A. M. Whistler, and Otto Dix have influenced me. I try to avoid strangling my work with ideas in the process of doing it, but try not to fail in coming back and revisiting it. There comes a point in my work where desperation hits. This is resolved by either solving the problem in a new piece or by taking the old piece and revisiting or obliterating what is there and rebuilding the fragments. Overpainting, glazing, underpainting, etching, pencil engraving, ink pushing, block cutting, and spontaneity are my trusted allies.
