Carlos Centuri Aleman I grew up in a merciless Brooklyn, New York neighborhood. There was a nearby street where hookers worked every corner, and drug dealers would market their wears with megaphones without fear of repercussion. The criminals were better armed than the cops. The prostitutes would take their client to an alley, perform her service, take the money straight to the dealer, buy the drugs, use them out in the open and then go back to the corner to start the cycle over again. No one did any thing to change these circumstances. I was left with a cynical attitude towards law and order and government intervention. This serigraph is a sarcastic commentary concerning the misplaced trusts in the executive branch of our government and the articulate the lack of fiduciary trust I have in our politicians. Screen-printing recalls the graphic content and style of World War II propaganda posters. The poet and philosopher George Santayana said,
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”.
The United States is at a crossroads - one path will lead us
down the way of fallen societies, the other towards evolution /
revolution.
