20/20 Vision, Second Edition The Art of Contemporary University Printmaking |
back to the exhibit | ||
Richard M. Ash This print represents a renewed interest in the collaging and layering of imagery. It is the direct result of a body of work begun as monotypes and expanded upon through Solar Plate Etchings, and finally as screen print. “New Century/Last Crank” is based on a number of themes, including New Orleans and its cemeteries, America’s drug problems, the last patented egg beater of the Twentieth Century, correspondence, horticulture and a overly active imagination. I see the prints as being about memory, both
personal and cultural.
