20/20 Vision The Art of Contemporary University Printmaking |

Gretchen Huffman The ability of a print or drawn line to present a flat, graphic image is appealing and allows me to alter space as shown to the viewer. Each line and object is approached with equal importance and hierarchy is never intentionally placed in my work. Humor, relationships, random occurrences, and the moments of life in which we can all relate are elements that repeatedly return to me. My grandfather sat down for breakfast one morning and became agitated that squirrels were running around his yard stealing, and eating, his ever so precious and highly anticipated pecans. At what time he decided that getting out his shotgun and attempting to shoot one of them was a noble idea is unknown. The point is that it happened. He no longer is shown in this piece as my grandfather, but rather, an old man made stubborn and completely set in his ways falling victim to a ridiculous decision. We've all been there. |
