My current body of work stems from a trip several years ago to the Antietam National Battlefield. The dichotomy between this place of incredible natural beauty and its infamous distinction as the single bloodiest day in American history continues to haunt me. These landscapes are an attempt not only to remember an event that has fallen by the wayside of our collective national consciousness, but also to explore the visceral connection we as humans have to the land; and how this connection has been, and undoubtedly will continue to be, a reoccurring catalyst for events throughout history.
