The Art of Contemporary University Printmaking

Beauvais Lyons

For this exhibition I have selected a lithograph depicting the “Taurus crockettensis” from my new project for  “The Association for Creative Zoology.” This body of work, first presented at the Scopes Trial Festival in Dayton, Tennessee on July 21, 2007, offers an approach to creation science based on the principle of “zoomorphic juncture,” which asserts that God creates species variation through His use of collage.  It should be noted that the “Taurus crockettensis”, once native to Tennessee, was considered as a possible mascot for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League. Marketing ‘coon-skin caps with bull horns protruding in the front somehow did not appeal to the business manager for the team. For me, this is a typical of the failure of imagination that we often encounter in the world of business.
