Casey John Opstad "I want people to have an instant emotional reaction my work—in general, a positive reaction is intended (for the time being…)—because it is a direct product of my emotional reactions to the subject matter. My current pieces are the result of my being inquisitive about the city, and about my role in a place that oftentimes feels too big, too overwhelming. Capturing these images on canvas thus becomes a way to make it manageable, to control it—and to control where I stand within it. When audiences then view my work, I would hope that they become inspired to find out more about themselves, and about where—and how—they fit into this landscape. Basically, I want people to ask questions and to be inspired. I want to create something beautiful that will strike people on some deep human hardware."
