Capture life ... and change it. Start your documentary career where you can make a difference.

When you apply to become 2012-2013 Documentary Fellow at The Fire House Gallery in Louisville, Georgia, you are applying to become part of an exciting tradition in arts-based community revitalization.  Every year, Friends of Historic Downtown Louisville, the Gallery's parent organization, selects a very special person to serve for a year as our residential Documentary Fellow.  Charged with extraordinary responsibility, the Documentary Fellow runs every aspect of the day-to-day operations of Fire Team Productions, a video documentary program focused on capturing the unique character and challenges of life in Jefferson County, deep in the heart of rural Georgia. As the 2012-2013 Documentary Fellow, you will work as an integral member of a team that includes Friends' Curatorial and Design Fellow (manager of The Fire House Gallery), and Friends executive management. As a team of grassroots community servants, we work tirelessly to demonstrate the power of art to celebrate and transform everyday life in the toughest circumstances.

The Deal

As the 2012-2013 Documentary Fellow, you will receive rent-free lodging in a spectacular apartment over the Gallery, a modest stipend for living expenses, and the love and support of committed colleagues and the most remarkable rural community in Georgia.

And, yes, there are a few perks. Friends Fellows zip around Louisville and Jefferson County on the fire-engine red FHG Stella scooter wearing matching red helmets. And when your year is up, Stella will stay behind, but you'll be taking your bike jacket with you ... along with a year's worth of great memories and a unique résumé!
